Every year starts with one senior. This season, it was Kate. Kate attends Prestonsburg High School in Prestonsburg, Kentucky and is part of the Class of 2027. While this was her senior session, it wasn’t our first time working together.
In fact, this was our second photo shoot together. That made the experience feel different from the beginning. She had been looking forward to this session for nearly two years. We had talked through ideas, discussed locations, and planned ways to create something that felt completely personal to her.
Because of that, senior session day didn’t feel rushed. It felt anticipated. It felt earned. Here are some of the first images we created after Kate arrived, ready to shoot, after waiting 2 years since I have last seen her!
Senior year comes with a lot of milestones. But, the senior session is often the first one. It’s the moment everything starts feeling real. For Kate, that moment had finally arrived.
Why Kate’s Session Meant So Much
After 23 years of photographing seniors, I’ve learned something important. The best sessions aren’t built around trends. They’re built around people. Kate has a calm confidence that’s easy to be around. She’s thoughtful, kind, and the type of person who makes a long session feel effortless.
What stood out most wasn’t a location or an outfit. It was how excited she was to finally be there. She had waited a long time for this day. And when clients spend years imagining their senior session, I want every detail to feel intentional. That’s why we built this experience around the things she loves most.
Fashion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Style. And creating memories she’ll want to revisit years from now.
What Made This Prestonsburg Senior Session Different?
Most senior sessions have a theme. Kate’s theme was fashion. Every outfit was selected with purpose. Every accessory helped tell part of the story.
And every location supported the overall vision. Instead of choosing outfits around locations, we planned locations around the wardrobe. That changed everything. Fashion became the thread connecting the entire experience. The result felt polished, personal, and uniquely hers.
Why Fashion Was the Center of the Experience
Kate loves fashion. You could see it immediately. She arrived with carefully selected pieces that reflected her personality without feeling forced. Her wardrobe included flowing dresses that moved naturally in the mountain breeze. She brought elegant accessories that added interest and variety throughout the session. One of the standout details was her Christian Louboutin shoes. They weren’t simply an accessory.
They represented her style. They represented her confidence. And they helped create a session that felt completely authentic to who she is.
